RIDES

KITTATINNY VALLEY STATE PARK

Located 1 mile north of RIDE Bike Shop up the Sussex Branch Trail, Kittatinny Valley State Park has some of the best mountain bike trails in North NJ. The park is 5656 acres and a 3-mile segment of the 20-mile Sussex Branch rail trail passes through the park, in addition to an extensive network of 11 blazed trails within the park.

STEPHENS & ALLAMUCHY MOUNTAIN

Located just a few miles south of RIDE Bike Shop's Andover location  Allamuchy Mountain and Stephens State Parks include 9,600 acres in Morris, Sussex and Warren counties. Allamuchy Mountain State Park lies mainly on the uplands, rising to over 1,100 feet, while Stephens lies in the valley below, along the Musconetcong River.  More than 36 miles of amazing mountain biking on old roads and trails connect these sites.

The section of Allamuchy Mountain State Park north of Route 80 is generally more rugged, offering challenges for seasoned hikers and mountain bikers. Besides the maze of park-blazed trails throughout, the Sussex Branch Trail crosses the ridge from its southern entrance off Waterloo Road near Jefferson Lake, to where it exits the park at Cranberry Lake and continues north to Newton.

SUSSEX COUNTY RAILS TO TRAILS

The Sussex County Rails to Trails system is great for  beginner, adventure, hybrid and gravel bike riding. Built on abandoned  railroad beds with a packed cinder base you can go long distances with no more than a 2% grade and little to no technical features. RIDE Bike Shop is located right across the street from one of the Sussex Branch Trail heads and provides rental bikes for the trails.

Directly from the shop you can access the Sussex Branch Trail and the Paulinskill Valley Trail. More trails are being developed in this network.
